I'm pretty sure she's in the house. The doors were closed, the carrier was in the hall. . .I unzipped it and waited for her to get out on her own. That was about three and a half hours ago, and since then there has been no evidence of cat.
I was warned that she was a fraidy cat. I don't think of myself as very scary, but I guess the cat does.
The cat came with the name of "Cass". I need to morph that into something that works for me. . .and so far, I'm coming up with very little. Let me know if you have the answer.
We'll see if she ever turns up or just disappears like the blogger posts sometimes do.

Give her time. She'll likely hide from loud children for a few days and come out for food, water, and litter box while they're sleeping. Check behind cabinets and under beds. (Mine wedged herself under a tiny space behind a china cabinet once. There was a false front at the bottom, but the back was open. Took us forever to find her.
Girl kitties, in my experience, are naturally more skittish, but can still be total lap cats when given the space they need.
If you can manage a picture, and give her time to show her temperament, that'll help name her!
What Chicka said. My mostested wonderfullest kitty was the one who spent the first week in my house hiding under a cedar chest. And when I finally managed to get her to come out, she spent the nights curled up against my feet under the covers. :) Her name was Yona... Watership Downese for hedgehog.
She'll love you to bits for your understanding and gentleness now.
